Design and Technical Services - Reopening 1st July 2020

The Design and Technical Service within the Department of Engineering is a central service that supports the Departments worldwide reputation for first-class academic research. It is the largest department in the University, accounting for some 10% of Cambridge University and encompasses a huge diversity of engineering disciplines. To accommodate this diversity the Department is divided into a number of specialist academic divisions.

The Design and Technical Service deliver a manufacturing service that is available to all teaching and research activities in the Department. The group is equipped with a range of both manual and computer controlled machinery and make extensive use of Computer Aided Design, Electronics Development and Manufacturing facilities as well as traditional trades.

In order to keep staff and students save during the coronavirus, we have introduced some changes in our processes.

Physical access to the main Workshops and Electronics Development Group will only be by appointment and where special permission is granted.

Contact the relevant service below to request an appointment/consulation to discuss your mechanical or electronics requirements.  Jobs can be discussed in detail via a MS Teams call.

Any deliveries or collections will go through the Main Stores.
